MONEY SAVING QUICK HITS: FILLING A CARTOMIZER AND DILUTING ELIQUID TO TRIPLE IT'S VOLUME!
REFILLING A KR808D CARTOMIZER WITH ELIQUID
:
Remove
the rubber/plastic draw end cap by instering the tip of a small nail or
bent paper clip into the hole and gently pulling it out. It is only
about 1/4 in length, so do not insert your removal tool too far down or
you might pull up some batting.
Thoroughly mix your eliquid by shaking it briskly for about 5 seconds.
Hold
your cartomizer in one hand at a slight angle and slowing put some
drops down the inside wall of the cart while turning it so the batting
is completely wetted all around, and just beginning to pool. Stop and
wait for the liquid to be aborbed and add more. A new blank carto can
take up to 20 drops. A refill will take about half that amount. (As
the carto is used more often, you will find it takes less and less until
you cannot use it anymore and it should be tossed away.)
Replace
the cap, inspect the metal screw end to make sure no liquid has leaked
out (if so, wipe completely dry with a paper towel)
Set
the carto down on it's side and allow the liquid to be thoroughly
absorbed. There is no exact amount of time, but the longer they sit,
the better vaping result you will have. You can of course, use them
immediately if you need to! I have a slotted flat container that I had
gotten carto's in before that works perfectly as a holding box for my
cartos. You might find or have something at home that would work as well.
Always clean up any spilt liquid and periodically
clean the outside of your carto's and any working surfaces with
Isopropyl Alchohol. Wash your hands if you get any liquid on them.
If
you find you have over filled a good cartomizer (usually by getting hot
liquid in your mouth when you draw, and maybe hear it bubble and pop
inside) try this: Cover the metal screw end hole with absorbant paper
and blow through the other end. The excess liquid will be blown out.
Then set the carto aside for a day to let it dry out further. Sometimes
it takes a little longer, but if it is a good carto, it should "come
back". If it is a much used carto, it probably has lost it's absorbancy
and should be tossed.
Because
you will generally get your new cartomizers in packs of 5, I have found
it best to fill and use 5 at a time. This keeps you stocked up for
long periods of vaping, and also prevents you from mixing up those that
have been used longer than others. I put used cartos that might still
work in a baggie and store for "emergencies" if I run out before my new
supply arrives.
A
carto that has lost it's effectiveness and needs to be tossed with have
a bad, perhaps burnt taste to it and/or no longer will produce vapor.
Toss those!
MIXING ELIQUID
:
Here is how I mix my liquid down from 36mg of nicotine to 12 mg in a 70%VG/30%PG base mix, creating 3 times more than I purchased:
I purchase 30 mls of my favorite eliquid flavor as 36mg nicotine in PG only base. My nicotine level preference is 12mg, so the steps below show you how I dilute it down to the level I want.
I purchase 250 mls of VG (vegetable glycerin) USP Grade from "Wally World"
(“first aid” section in the stores) for about $3. Be sure you get USP
grade! Most drug stores carry it. You can also find it on the web.
If you do not have a dropper/syringe (no needle needed), you can pick
one up at the store. Many Pharmacies give them to you for free, just
ask.
In a clean used eliquid bottle I add 5 ml of the 36 mg PG based flavored
nicotine eliquid and 10 ml of the VG and voila! I have 15 mils of eliquid, at 12mg nicotine.
I have now extended the volume of my eliquid that will
last 3 times longer!
